I’m going to be honest here; large extended families can be tough. The prudent photographer has to take into consideration family dynamics, personalities, height, hyper children and lighting among many other things all while trying to make everyone feel and look natural. This family, however, was nothing short of amazing. They were so much fun, had a ton of personality and even the kids were open and friendly! I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Remember this beautiful family? They welcomed their new baby boy into their family New Year’s Even day in the comfort of their home. I can’t express how intimate and exhilarating it was to watch a child being born. Instead of showing images from the birth, I have linked directly to the public viewing gallery itself. I feel this is a more powerful way to tell such an amazing story.

Enjoy!

Birth session slideshow

This lovely couple is expecting their first baby this spring. Renee told me on the phone that she “felt huge already”, but I think she looks great! Here’s your sneak peek. Enjoy!

I took this little guy’s newborn pictures six whole months ago. It amazes me how a few months can turn a sleepy, curly newborn into a bouncy, expressive little boy. Since his six month session fell into the holiday season, we decided to add some Christmas flair to the session. Here is just a sneak peek for the family.

I love this family. They are friends of my husband and mine, and also have a crazy lot in common with us. My husband and Mike are co-workers, love the Cardinals (poor things), play guitar, are both really tall, and look a lot alike. Amber and I are both photographers and have super-cute kids ;-) . They’re super cool not only because we’re like alternate universe twins, but they have awesome style.

So when Amber came to me asking to do a maternity/family/Christmas session with her, I was jumping for joy. It’s so nice to photograph people who not only get what I’m trying to capture, but take it to the next level. I have to admit I’m not the most stylish person out there. It took me a solid week to put together my family’s outfits for our Christmas portrait. But I totally love Amber’s Hip/classic style.  So when they pulled up at the park with a car full of props and outfits to die for I knew this would be a memorable session.

And I was right. One of my favorite sessions ever!
